collecting colours over a cup of coffee...

If you are a lover of printed words, you would know how much of your time is taken by books alone. Then one day, sooner or later, you discover a huge vacuum within that you know next to nothing about other art forms. This blog is an attempt to fulfil one such lacunae in the art of painting. We intend to look up a random painting and upload it with a link here every day whilst having our daily cuppa coffee. In this way at least we hope to be better acquainted with colours, colourers and the schools than what we are now.If you wish to be a part, you know where to shout.

The Threatened Swan

The Threatened Swan, Jan Asselijn

The Kid said...

I am really new to art and trying to gain a appreciative eye towards paintings. This painting is very good, depicting a threatened swan. But I did not really understand the previous one "Untitled 7". I actually could not even see that as art... Some explanation could really help.

PS: I linked this blog from mine.

We are glad you found this good. We must say we are not any connoisseurs of the art, but what I can say now is as you move along further you would shred a lot of yourself including your own ideas about art and the notion that art has to be ‘understood’ to be appreciated. If explanations define art then perhaps it ceases to be art.

We post here to learn for ourselves. We cant post for others(with explanations/interpretations) even if we wish to because we lack that refined art sense as well as time. We do post the artist link to gather as we have explained in the intro.
Good luck with your interest, hope you are aren’t thwarted by boundaries.

But the most important reason why I am not explaining is because untitled arts are for adults not for kids ;)
No just kidding ;)

Its a pleasure about the link. Thanks for letting us know.
