collecting colours over a cup of coffee...

If you are a lover of printed words, you would know how much of your time is taken by books alone. Then one day, sooner or later, you discover a huge vacuum within that you know next to nothing about other art forms. This blog is an attempt to fulfil one such lacunae in the art of painting. We intend to look up a random painting and upload it with a link here every day whilst having our daily cuppa coffee. In this way at least we hope to be better acquainted with colours, colourers and the schools than what we are now.If you wish to be a part, you know where to shout.

Winter Break and a Quiz..

Hello all,

We shall be on our winter break for the next two weeks. To keep the interested occupied during the break we thought of wrapping up this year's assortments with a question? In the following collage you will find six different paintings which are all linked by a theme save for one. Pick the odd one out and give the reasons behind your choice.

Chirstmas Collage

The titles and the painters of the six paintings are as follows:

Summer 1981, Tamas Galambos

The Triumph of the Death, Pieter Brueghel the Elder

The Enigma of Arrival, Giorgio de Chirico

Little Cinders (Cenicitas), Salvador Dali

The Garden of Earthly Delights, Hieronymus Bosch

Drink On The Way, John Griffiths.

Since the idea of the theme is a bit obscure and of second order ( and perhaps therefore a bit difficult)  we'll drop a hint. The theme might not necessarily be  around paintings themselves.

Good luck, We'll post the answers after the break. Have a nice holiday and see you next year.

There are also some really nice Bruegel engraavings. And a little bit before Bruegel's time were these Bosch engravings.

Happy holidays!
