collecting colours over a cup of coffee...

If you are a lover of printed words, you would know how much of your time is taken by books alone. Then one day, sooner or later, you discover a huge vacuum within that you know next to nothing about other art forms. This blog is an attempt to fulfil one such lacunae in the art of painting. We intend to look up a random painting and upload it with a link here every day whilst having our daily cuppa coffee. In this way at least we hope to be better acquainted with colours, colourers and the schools than what we are now.If you wish to be a part, you know where to shout.

Any plans for including a short synopsis on each painting? Like its genre/what it conveys/artist etc. Also , is the blog's theme only sleep/dream ?

@d.n.a: Pigmentium is largely about random discovery right now. We pick up what appeals and post it here with a link to the artist so that we can delve into our selections at leisure.

Part of the magic is in the discovery that each of us makes from the picture as a starting point. Sleep/Dream was an impulsive theme selection, inspired by Uber's Self Portraits collection in the earlier week. I don't think we will be restricting ourselves to a certain theme. The idea is to let the senses lead us to a painting each day.

The short synopsis is something Uber and I have been tossing around and wondering if it is necessary or not. At the moment, undecided.

Hey DNA
Thanks for your interest. We started this collection just to make ourselves aware of paint medium and the painters. This is something we do passively with other things so that we can be better acquainted.
We dont wish to actively pursue a artistic trail here.Neither do we think we have enough know-how for that.

Personally Im more interested in Painters than painting itself. For instance, Keith haring died of Aids. It makes me ponder about the influence of illness on the nature of his works et al.

So, We wish this assortment to be a reflection of ourselves. Also it is enriching to even casually go through the archives over a tea.
Hope we have answered your queries.
In any way, it shouldnt effect to make your own judgement of the paintings here.
Hope you enjoy as much as we do.
cheers
